About Furkating College
Four decades of growth, from a single school building in 1981 to an Autonomous College serving the Assam–Nagaland border region today.
Built by the community, for the community
Furkating College was established on 6th August 1981, serving the mass-populated Assam–Nagaland border area of Golaghat district. With great enthusiasm and cooperation, the people of Furkating and its adjoining areas resolved to build an institution of higher education at the heart of a 25 sq. mile region.
The College began functioning under the leadership of founder President Late Mohen Baruah, founder Secretary Mr. Dugdha Dutta, and founder Principal Late Firdus Ali Ahmed. Classes started at Furkating High School on 22 June 1981, before the College moved to its own campus on about 9 acres of land at the Tirual Grazing Ground — generously donated by local people.
The College became affiliated with Dibrugarh University on 28 July 1993, and today continues to grow under the guidance of its Principal, faculty, and staff — determined to remain a pioneering institution of higher education in Assam.

Conferred Autonomous status on 6th June 2024, Furkating College is located on about 9 acres of land in Golaghat district. Its buildings and infrastructure, set among natural vegetation, make the campus an attractive and ideal space for learners — one the College continues to build on as it works toward becoming a pioneering institution of higher education in Assam.
